I think I noted that I know moderates right to extremes. And obviously I’m being a bit derisive in this post…but then again I’m not Christian. My agnosticism *is* an educated decision though - I have no wish to study the Bible with a JW or anyone else for that matter. And you’re right, there are crazy people in every denomination of every religion.
Of course I’m kidding about the Flying Spaghetti Monster…the idea is ridiculous, but it’s no more ridiculous than believing in an invisible man in the sky, the Prophet Muhammed, or Krishna…which is kind of the whole point.

You have some typical family members…some who want to do what they want to do, and others who don’t want to do those things because they’re afraid of t he consequences.

BTW, Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t believe on 144,000 will be saved. Please do get further education on the issue of the 144,000 and the Great Crowd of Other Sheep. There are about 7,000,000 active Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwise.

I’m so sorry your family is suffering strife and disagreement. That’s so hard to deal with. Sometimes it’s hard for parents and siblings to let go and let their family members to do what they want.

The requirement for being “saved” is calling on the name of Jehovah in faith. But it can’t be summed up in a quick paragraph here on the blog. And in spite of your request, I would encourage you to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses who are not part of your family or who don’t personally know your family. It sounds like there is just too much baggage there. At least then you’ll be able to make an educated decision as to whether to serve the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

You will find that there are nuts among Jehovah’s Witnesses, just as among Baptists, C of C, Catholics, Episcopalians, etc. We’re all just human, in the end.

The reaction would’ve been the same no matter where he was from. Many people see it as disrespectful to the event for an athlete to basically slow down & celebrate before he’s finished. Plus, there is also the “what if” factor. What would his time have been if he actually finished the race? It comes off as him not taking the event seriously.

But in the end, no one likes being taunted.
